Dharamsala -Triund Trek

Duration 5-6 days

Best Period : June to October

Grade: Moderate

Day01): Arive in delhi India’s capital and transfer to our hotel .After our welcome supper we transfer to New Delhi central station for our over night train to Pathankot in the foothills of the Indian Himalaya.

Day02): Dharamsala and  The Dalai Lama:

On arrival we transfer 3hrs to the old hill station of Mcleod Ganj1750m, also known as upper Dharamsala. Here the white peaks of the Himalaya on the horizon guard the place and remind the largely Tibetan refuge population of their lost Tibet. You could be forgiven for thinking you were in Lhasa, as there are many reminder; the smiling Tibetan faces,shrines, prayer flags, mantras carved in stone, Buddhist monks in red robes, and Tibetan music. This afternoon we are able to visit The Dalai Lama’s residence and Kalachakra Temple.

Day03) Dharamsala- Konal village:

Dharmasala is a great place to start our journey and after a good early breakfast the two hours transfer  takes us to Boa village on the banks of the Brahal river. Our trek begins with a steep climb to the remote tribal village of Batuni and just above it, the Snake God Temple at Lingru Nag. This is a picturesque place to enjoy lunch, after which we descend through forest, terraced fields and small villages. We finally traverse up to a lower pass toarrive at our camp at the village of Konal,1,600m. Prepare yourself for hours of fun and games with the very curious local children. Overnight we stay here

Day04): Konal village – Kareri (2070 m)

From our camp we start heading towards the next valley and descend steeply into anther village before starting a constant and tough climb through dense pine and deodar forest to the top of the ridge. Our rout from here is surrounding by the most magnificent views as we continue along the side of the mountain, passing farm houses and small settlenents all theway to the village of Kareri at 207m. The setting for our camp tonight is surrounded by rolling hills in a picturesque meadow on the banks of the Laund River, with  distant views of the mountains and state-rooted villages. We spend the evening around the bonfire with the shepherds sleeping close by

Day05): Kareri village- Bal village:

After breakfast we continue our trek with a gradual but tough ascent to a typical mountain village where we are welcomed by the locals. We can see the traditional way of life of the local shepherds and perhaps share a cup of hot sweet chai. The distant views of the Dhaula Dhar mountain range accompany us as we continue through open meadows, pine forest and villages before descending to our lunch spot in the valley by a mountain stream. Dense forest of bamboo.oak, and pine surround us until we reach a col. From where it is another short climb to Bal village.From here a descent through terraced fields bring us into camp by a glacial river; a perfect spot for a refreshing dip.

Day06): Bal village- Triund( 2800m):

Next day in the morning we strat our walk  the height of 2800m . Form our camp we climb the steep trail through magnificent  forest. Once we arrive at the ridge we make a gradual ascent on a path used by the Gaddi tribal people during summer migrations to lake and Triund. From mid afternoon by a small Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva the views have opened up into the panorama of the Dhaula Dhar mountain range. Our camp tonight is a Triund and for those with more energy there is a chance to visit the prayer flags and amazing scenic Shiva Shrine above our camp at 3200 m.

Day07) : Dharamsala:

And so to the last day of our trek. The classic Himalayan views today are dominated by the snow covered peaks and of the valley below us, into which we start to descend. Our trail takes us steeply down along an eastern shoulder from our camp walking down a stony and grassy path until reaching mixed forests and a river. We cross by boulder hopping , to a small teashop and an attractive waterfall. Finally we reach Bhagsu Nag and the hustle and bustle of everyday life returns. Our jeep takes s through the town and into Mcleod Ganj and wonderful luxry of our hotel . Tonight we relax once again in comfortable surroundings and enjoy a celebratory mean after our tough challenge.

Day08) The new Delhi Flyer:

WE can finally have a relaxed breakfast and have the rest of the day free visit the Tibetan Bazaar and the monastery. This afternoon we Transfer to Pathankot station  where we board  the New Delhi Flyer for our overnight train to Delhi

Day09) Delhi:

We arrive in to Delhi and transfer to our hotel where we have the chance to freshen up after our journey. The rest of the day is free to explore this vibrant city at leisure and buy any last souvenirs to take home.

Day10) Arrive Home:

We bid farewell to Delhi and board our flight to back home.
