Manali is a major tourist destination in Himachal, North India for Indian & western Holidaymakers. Enclosed on three side by majestic mountains this scenic hill-station is situated at a height of 6000 Ft.,40 km beyond kullu on national Highway NH 21.Originally known as ‘Dena Bazar’ the place was christened as ‘Manali’ by the Britishers in 1938 ager the arrival of an Irish settler John Bahan. 1.)Hadimba Temple:
Located in a peaceful wooded glade the temple is dedicated to the goddess Hadimba Devi who according the local myth was a mountain belle resuced from her evil-demon brother by God Bhim who married her later.She is worshipped by the people as a protector from evil omens and natural calamities and revered as ‘Mother Goddess’ Hadimba or Dhungiri temple in Manali is one of the most important temples in the region. This four-story wooden temple is located in the middle of a forest called the Dhungiri Van Vihar. Winding paths through forests and glades of whispering Deodars form the setting for the majestic wooden temple of Hidimba Devi in Manali. The motorable road is shaded by Chestnuts, Chinars and tall deciduous Deodars. This forested backdrop enthral one’s spirit and refresh one’s mind all along the uphill path.

3.) Vashist Bath Springs (1,982m):
The natural theurpatic sulphur springs form a major tourist attraction in Manali. Temple of Vashist Rishi and Lord Rama add another hole dimension to the scenic sight.At about half an hour’s brisk walking distance from town, there are sulphur springs-gush, hot and medicinal – emerging out of the mountains at Vashisht. Here, in a bath complex with a restaurant and a beautiful view, couples can soak in the privacy of their own sunken bath, warming all kinds of ailments out of their systems.

4.) Jagatsukh (6-kms):It is one of the biggest and heritage villages in Kullu district. About 6-km from Manali, Jagatsukh is famous for its Shiva temple that is built in “shikhara” style and nearby is the old and interesting Devi Gayatri mata temple.

5.) Arjun Gufa (5-kms): A legendary cave near Shuru village renowned for Arjun ‘s’ Tapasya’ to get Pashupati Asthra (weapon) from Lord Indra.

6.) The Beas Kund:
This place is famous for the Great Vyas Rishi Perfromed ‘Tap’ (meditataion) here during the Mahabharat Kal.
It is ahead of the palchan, the Beas Kund. It is like stone hut shelters the Beas Kund, the very source of the holy river Beas. Water flows at the source of the river like a spring, so clear and icy cold that it almost numbs the fingers. All around is the rocky terrain with very little vegetation. A few mules graze around while all and sundry try to brave the wind on a clear sunny day.

7.) Rohtang Pass (53-kms):
This place is major tourists attraction in Manali palce. Situated about 50 -km from Manali town, at an altitude of 4,111m (13,400 ft.) on the highway Road to Lahaul and spiti valley, is the Rohtang Pass. This pass is open only from June to September.There is a beautiful Dasohar Lake left of the Pass. The Pass, which provides the only access to the Lahaul Valley, is open from June to November each year. Snowfall is, however, unpredictable and blizzards can close the Pass even during this period. Here one sees the majesty of the mountains at its height and splendour. A few km away from the pass is the Sonapani glacier and, slightly to the left are the twin peaks of Gaypan-jagged pyramid of rock, snow streaked and snow crowned.
8.) Rahalla Falls:
This enchating water fall is 16 km from manali on the Rohtang pass road at an altitude of 8,500ft.Approachable by bus,jeep and poney.
9.) Kothi:It is a picturesque camping place at the foot of Rohtang pass(12km) from manali.
10.) Nehru kund:A sparklingly clear cold water spring 6km from Manali on Lahaul and spiti valley road named after late Prime Minister Pt. Jwahar Lal Nehru who was a regular visitor to this area.
11.) Mountaineering Institute (2.5Km)
The Mountaineering Institute located at Manali provides training facilities for basic and advance climbing both for Indian nationals and foreigners. This institute also conducts other adventurous sports activities like high altitude trekking, minor mountaineering, rock-climbing, skiing, and high altitude rescue and relief courses. The institute has sufficient lodging and boarding arrangements and equipment can be hired for trekking purposes
12.) Solang Valley: (13km)The valley 13 km from Manali offers splendid view fo glaciers and snow clad mountain peaks with excellent skiing slopes and others adventure activites.
13.) Monastery:
A place having a rare display of Tibetan handicraft & hand woven colourful carpets with exotic designs.
14.) Marhi :- ( 39 km. )
It is 15 km. short of the 13,050 feet high Rohatang Pass on the Lahaul and spiti valley road lies one of the most picturesque places in Manali region .
15.)Club House : (2km) It is situated 2 kms. from the town, club house. It is famous for indoor games facilities local shopping mall. It is located on the left bank of Manalsu Nallah near old manali.
16.) Nagar Castle:
Naggar castle is famous for the Roerich art gallery. Its is 20km from manali.

Getting there:Air:The nearest airport to kullu Manali is that of Bhuntar, which is 52-km from Manali. From Bhuntar one can take a taxi or a bus to Manali.
Rail: The nearest railhead is that of and this narrow gauze railway station is 135-km jogindernagar from Kullu. The scenic beauty of Kullu while going to Manali can best be enjoyed on a bus or a taxi. It is better to take a taxi, which one can stop and enjoy the nature at will.

Road:The road to Manali passes through the picturesque valley of Kullu. Manali connect the town with other major tourist places in Himachal as well as in the nearby states. At the Manali bus stand there are two booths, which do computerised reservation for buses. The reservations can be made one month in advance. Both private and state government buses are in service over here.
